Welcome to our e-bulletin for Summer 2011.

Since the last bulletin, there have been some changes in the administration of the Corporate Partnership, following the departure of Geoff Hale in February 2011. Jane Moorman and I are now managing partnership business between us, supported as always by the Corporate Fellows of the College.

This year the College has welcomed two new partners - BG Group, and UCB Celltech (who are returning to the programme) and we look forward to working with both of these companies in the future.

The sixth William Pitt Seminar will be held in the Queen's Building at Emmanuel College on Friday 14 October. Many of you will already have received a diary-note email, and formal invitations will soon be mailed. The subject of the seminar is “The Future of the World in Four Objects”, which derives its inspiration and title from the marvellous series on Radio 4, "A History of the World in 100 Objects" and takes forward the themes of previous years’ seminars. The College is very pleased that Mr Mark Damazer, Master of St Peter’s College, Oxford, formerly of the BBC, and said to be the originator of that programme, has agreed to chair the seminar. Dr David Cleevely, head of the University's Centre for Science and Policy, is to talk on advances in communications, Professor Anthony Kelly will talk on composites, Professor Professor Roger Pedersen on stem cells, and Lord Eatwell will discuss financial and economic issues. The seminar will be followed, as usual, by dinner in Hall in the College.

On 21 November the David Andrews German Lecture (formerly the Xcellence German Lecture series) will take place at the Judge Business School. It will take the form of an interview between the German footballer, and current National Team Manager, Oliver Bierhoff, and Alastair Campbell, formerly the Prime Minister's Director of Communications.

If you are interested in attending either of these events, or have any further suggestions or questions, please contact Jane Moorman, the Corporate Partnership Programme Co-ordinator.

Director of Development
