Interests: Research Interests: Global seismology maps the Earth's deep interior from upper mantle to inner core, elucidating the internal structure and dynamics of our planet. My goal is to connect seismology with other disciplines like mineral physics, geodynamic modelling and geochemistry, and determine what causes the heterogeneity found in the Earth. Ultimately, this will provide a consistent picture of the way in which the Earth convects and evolves. Current projects include work on mantle discontinuities, Earth's free oscillations and the inner core. Teaching: seismology, physics of the Earth as a planet. Publications on mantle discontinuities, the observation of inner core shear waves and theoretical work on free oscillations.
