Projects
Youth Centre
A variety of activities takes place through the week, from crafts projects and sports (including football, basketball and rugby), through samba dance and drumming workshops, to computer work, healthy eating activities, film and educational sessions. Visit the website.
Young Visions
The Young Visions project, which grew out of higher education access ventures, seeks to work with local schools and colleges to create opportunities for Southwark youngsters to think through their own futures, particularly through dialogue with professionals and current students. Part of the project work includes visits to higher education institutions, including Pembroke College. Visit the website.
Pembroke Academy of Music
Local children, with little opportunity for musical education, are given tuition in a range of instruments as well as music theory. There are over sixty places for young people, with a team of nine professional and three voluntary tutors, and horizons are enlarged with concert visits and stage performance in Walworth and Cambridge. The project was founded by William Carslake, former Organ Scholar of Pembroke College. Visit the website.
St Christopher's Church
St Christopher's is the church at the heart of Pembroke House. Part of the Anglican Diocese of Southwark, its large and growing congregation worships in a rich Anglo-Catholic tradition seen through the prism of the variety of cultural backgrounds represented in the church family. The Parish Mass is on Sunday at 10.00am, Mass is said on weekdays, and there is a variety of social activities. Visit the website website.
Luncheon Club
The Pembroke Luncheon Club meets weekly to provide an opportunity for older Walworth residents to gather. Launched in January 2010 by Pembroke graduate Miriam Boyles, it offers a hot lunch together with social activities such as bowls and bingo, and the chance to make use of advisory and IT facilities.
