Undergraduates
We are always looking for current undergraduates to help with our Access initiatives and give prospective students an insight into life in Cambridge. Below are some frequently asked questions. If there is anything else you would like to ask, email Laura, Schools Liaison Officer, on ad2@pem.cam.ac.uk.
Which schools do we work with?
All state schools in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Suffolk, Rutland, associated urban Local Authorities Leicester, Luton and Peterborough and the London Borough of Southwark. If you are concerned that your old school/sixth form doesn't have a link with a Cambridge College, then please get in touch with Laura to find out which College that area is linked to and to set up some formalised contact.
What about independent schools?
Both Pembroke and St. Catharine's welcome the chance to work with any school, but the work of the Schools Liaison Officer is normally restricted to state schools.
What sort of things can I get involved in?
- Volunteer on school visit days to meet students and teachers and show them round the College
- Visit your old school/college (and/or a school local to your home in the university holidays) to chat to prospective students
- Take part in the Northern Ireland or CUSU Shadowing Scheme
- Apply to be a Student Ambassador for the Year 10/11 Easter Masterclasses or Year 12 Summer School
How do I get involved?
Email Laura to let her know which aspect of Access work you would like to help with or ask her to put you on the Pembroke/St. Catharine’s Access mailing list where all opportunities for undergraduates to get involved are advertised.
