Development

Pembroke College's Development Office covers both fundraising and relations with 'Non-Resident Members' - our alumni.

Why do we need to raise funds?

  • The College's endowment is currently insufficient to meet its long-term financial requirements.
  • We must preserve the high standards on which we pride ourselves.
  • We must be in a position to embark on the any new ventures which the 21st century may require.
  • We must support our students and ensure that no student of requisite academic merit is forced to discontinue their studies for financial reasons.

What difference has development made to the College?

Our Development Campaign has run through its first and second phases.

The first phase of the Development Campaign raised nearly £14 million and has provided new student accommodation in Foundress Court, the James Campbell Fellowship in Law, a fund to support current students facing financial hardship, and several new academic posts.

The second phase of the Development Campaign has raised over £10 million and has achieved the restoration and extension of the Waterhouse Library, funding of new Research and Teaching posts in Arts and Sciences, the restoration of Caroe Bridge, and important Sports Ground drainage. Further projects include augmenting the Peter May Sports Fund and the Annual Fund, and providing more funds for student hardship.

Pembroke is now embarking on a third phase, Excellence in Perpetuity, to increase its endowment. We look to our alumni and others to continue with their generous support and help secure Pembroke's long term future. Find out more about making a gift to the College (either a single gift or a regular donation), or make a gift online now. Alternatively, access information about leaving a legacy to the College in your will.
