Marquee at the May Bumps
Pembroke College Boat Club (PCBC) warmly invites Pembroke Members, friends and their families to join them for the exciting final day of the 2018 May Bumps on Saturday 16th June.
Come and cheer on our 3 men’s crews and 3 (possibly 4!) women’s crews. They include the Men’s 1st VIII in the new James van Oosterom boat and our division winning WEHORR women’s 1st VIII.
PCBC will be hosting a marquee in Caius Meadow, close to Fen Ditton. Pimms and snacks will be available at the marquee, but please do feel free to also bring along your own picnic.
The action starts at 11:45 and runs until 18:00.
Getting to the marquee
To get to the marquee, from Midsummer Common, follow the footpath along the river. Pass under the Elizabeth Way Bridge and follow the footpath keeping the river on your left, keep going to the far end of the meadows. It’s about a 15 minute cycle or a 30 minute walk. A map can be found online here:
Parking for the May Bumps
Notice from the Clerk to Fen Ditton Parish Council:
As in past years, we welcome spectators to Fen Ditton and will open the Recreation Ground on Church Street for parking (CB5 8SX for SatNavs). The Ground will be open from 12.30pm to 9pm on Friday and from 10am to 8pm on Saturday. If fine weather is forecast on the Thursday the Ground will be open from 12.30pm to 9pm
Parking is organised by volunteers and we ask for contributions of £5 per car. Proceeds from the parking help to maintain the Recreation Ground for the benefit of the villagers. Keeping parked cars off our narrow roads helps health and safety and the enjoyment of residents and visitors.
Please note that parking will not be allowed in High Street, Church Street, Stanbury Close or Green End due to the need for emergency access. There is a major building development on the junction of Horningsea Road and High Ditch Road which means no parking on High Ditch Road. Parking on Osier Holt and Ditton Meadows is by invitation only.
Visitors arranging a taxi pick up in the hour after the last race on Saturday are encouraged to arrange collection at the War Memorial by the Church on the High Street (CB5 8ST). This will avoid being delayed in Church Street and Green End.
