Dr Ifeyinwa Nnakenyi

Ifeyinwa Nnakenyi is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nigeria Nsukka where she heads the Department of Chemical Pathology located at the College of Medicine. She is also a Clinical Biochemist and Metabolic Physician working at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu, where she directs the Clinical Biochemistry diagnostic and research laboratories. Ifeyinwa also manages patients with metabolic disorders, particularly obesity; which is her core area of research interest.


Ifeyinwa graduated from the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, having done an elective at King’s College London, and received her MBBS (2005). She completed her residency program and was awarded Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (2013), as well as Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (2013) with awards for best performance in Clinical Biochemistry.


Ifeyinwa is an awardee of the 2024 Professional Scientific Exchange Programme by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC). She will visit the Wellcome-MRC Institute of Metabolic Science- Metabolic Research Laboratories where she will conduct research on the association between obesity biomarkers and breast cancer risk.
