Admission of Taavi Davies to the William Pitt Fellowship

On 13th December 2022 Mr Taavi Davies signed his name in The Book of William Pitt Fellows and The Matriculation Book, becoming a permanent fixture in the long history of Pembroke College alongside Bishop Ridley, Edmund Spenser, Pitt the Younger, Ted Hughes, and Jo Cox MP.

Moreed's watchful gaze...

Taavi's admission to the College was the second admission ceremony that week, and the last of 2022 - a year which saw the most such ceremonies to date as we signed on a number of new partners.

Taavi was at Cambridge in the mid-1990s, at Peterhouse. Taavi studied History and Law at Peterhouse, before earning an LLM in European and International Law and qualifying to practise law in England, California and Luxembourg. He has worked with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Sullivan & Cromwell, and D Harris & Co., and has held in-house counsel roles at Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch. In 2011 Taavi founded Fund Executives, a business that provides expertise in corporate governance.

In an impressive career spanning over twenty years Taavi has developed specialist knowledge of securitisations and investment funds, making him well placed to advise asset managers and investment banks on governance, legal and regulatory issues, and compliance and operational matters across a wide range of structures and jurisdictions.

Fund Executives provides locally-domiciled specialist director services to its clients, meeting the demand for best practice in corporate governance. Thanks to decades of institutional knowledge and experience with corporate governance, Fund Executives has accrued and retained a sizable roster of high-quality clients, fostering consistent growth for the company. Since its founding, Fund Executives has demonstrated a capacity for flexible diversification and is now able to provide financial-sector services in addition to governance such as insolvency, restructuring and anti-money-laundering compliance in a number of jurisdictions. It has now grown from its early core client base of hedge funds to a company adept at providing services to private equity, real estate, family investment vehicles and industrials.

The Master and Michael congratulate Taavi

As the ink on The Matriculation Book dried, we celebrated Taavi’s admission in good company. The warmth generated by our party coalesced as delicate beads of water on the cool panes of glass that separated the Senior Parlour from the frozen landscape outside. Wooden logs crackled and broke apart on the fire, shooting blazing bright sparks as fine as grains of rice into the air. As Fund Executives continues to take an interest in ESG, especially with regard to Corporate Governance, there are myriad ways that a successful collaboration with Pembroke can be formed.
