Research interests span different fields of engineering, materials science and nanotechnology. Raman spectroscopy applied to different materials, such as diamond, nanodiamond, diamondoids, diamond-like carbon, boron nitride, nanotubes, nanowires and bio-materials. The experimental studies and the development of the Raman instrumentation are paralleled by ab-initio calculations of the vibrational properties and Raman intensities of materials. Growth and characterization of diamond-like carbon, carbon nanotubes and nanowires for coating, electronic and sensing applications. Electrical transport in carbon nanotubes and in their non-linear optical properties for applications in photonic devices.
