Dr Tristan Bekinschtein

Dr Bekinschtein is interested in non-classic approaches to study the physiology and cognition of consciousness. He has wide-ranging interests in cognition and neurophysiology. His current research focuses on describing different states of consciousness such as wakefulness, sleep, sedation, and the vegetative state. He is exploring these states at the limits of cognition with a combination of behavioural measures, and brain markers of cognitive processes and micro-conscious states. He uses behaviour measures, electromyography, electroencephalography, functional MRI, intracranial electrophysiology and transcranial magnetic stimulation, to address the main questions at the intersection between awareness and wakefulness.
