Ms Nivedita Manchanda
Nivedita Manchanda is a PhD candidate at the Department of Politics and International Studies, University of Cambridge, where she also received an M.Phil. in International Relations (2010). She previously studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), at the University of London where she graduated with a First Class Honours in Economics and Politics (2006-2009).
Her doctoral research looks at the role of Afghanistan in the imperial imagination, focusing on how the concepts of ‘modernity’ and ‘tradition’ continue to sanction intervention in the Global South through the philanthropic/aid industry, development ventures and nation-building. Her general research interests include: theories of world politics; postcolonialism and poststructuralism; international political economy; and the history and politics of the Middle East.
