Arrival, Departure and Registration

Arrivals and Departures
Arrival day in 2012 is Sunday 1 July and the departure date is Saturday 25 August.

Registration
Registration will take place between 10am and 6pm in the Chetwynd Room at King's College. On arrival in Cambridge go to the King's College Front Gate where you will find Programme Assistants to help you and clear signposts to the Chetwynd Room.

Before the beginning of the programme you will receive detailed information on arrival, together with your timetables, students' handbook and library guides.

Early arrivals
Unfortunately early arrivals cannot be accommodated. We can however suggest some options for hotels in London and Cambridge. Bear in mind that these are just suggestions and that we do not endorse any of the establishments listed here.

Late arrivals
There will be a buffet supper from 6.30pm in the Hall at King's College. If you will be arriving between 6-8pm, please go straight to the Hall to get yourself some dinner, and you can register afterwards. If you anticipate arriving later than 8pm, please go directly to the King's Porters' Lodge to collect your information pack. If you know in advance that you will be arriving late please contact the Programme Co-ordinator

Early departures
We are aware that some universities and colleges start back prior to the end of PKP 2012. We do not want to penalise students in that situation and would not like therefore to restrict your course choices. However, potential problems arise with Module 2 classes which continue in week 8 (Module 3 classes finish at end of week 7). Our best advice is not to take Module 2 classes. If, however, you have your heart set on it, then we will allow it, but note carefully the following implications:

  • Early exams will not be permitted.
  • You will miss some classes taking place in week 8.
  • You must sit a proctored exam at a time agreed between you and the proctor with 2 caveats: firstly, that our lecturers agree to provide alternative exams (as is usual), and secondly, that the proctored exam takes place proximate to the end of PKP.

Late departures
Students who wish to stay over for a few nights at the end of the programme might be able to do so subject to the availability of rooms. Prices for extra nights might vary depending on the accommodation band and students will be charged separately for the extra nights they book once in Cambridge

There will also be a facility for storing luggage for those students who wish to travel before returning home.
