Current Cambridge students act as Programme Assistants (PAs) and organise a wide variety of daily activities. Every afternoon and evening and on weekends throughout the programme activities include river walks and cream teas at the picturesque village of Granchester, visits to pubs and restaurants, days on the coast and in the countryside, literary tours and punting, cinema and theatre trips, and games of football, tennis, cricket and croquet. A daily bulletin is sent to all students by e-mail outlining what activities PAs are organising. Students can also take advantage of the city’s many cultural offerings, including the annual Cambridge Shakespeare Festival.

PAs also organise optional weekend trips away, including such destinations as Oxford and the Peak District. With London Stansted Airport, a major hub for low cost airlines, only thirty minutes from Cambridge, students can easily arrange their own trips around the UK and Europe on weekends: Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Munich, Prague, Dublin, Berlin, Brussels and Amsterdam are just a few of the destinations visited by PKP students in 2011.
