Optional visits

PAs organise a number of weekend trips to destinations around the UK and can offer advice on trips elsewhere in Europe.

The Peak District

None

The Peak District was the UK’s first national park and is famous for its dramatic moorland, breathtaking landscapes and the ancient oaks in its National Forest. In addition to lots of hiking, students can go horse riding and visit the village of Bakewell, the Peak Cavern caves, and Chatsworth House, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and one of Britain's best loved historic estates.

Oxford

None
Oxford is England’s other ancient and world-famous university city. Students can explore colleges, museums and Blenheim Palace, one of England’s finest country homes and the birthplace of Winston Churchill. In the evening there are many excellent restaurants and pubs to visit, including The Eagle and Child, a favourite pub of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.

Dublin

None

During a weekend in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, students can enjoy walking tours and visits to Dublin Castle, Trinity College, cathedrals, museums and St. James’s Gate Brewery, the home of Guinness. In the evenings Temple Bar, the city’s cultural and entertainment quarter, is a popular destination.
