Freshers’ Week 2014
Freshers' week is a whirlwind of events for our new students.
The gallery below gives you a glimpse of just some of this activity, including arrivals day, unpacking, inductions, picnics, freshers' fair, the first bop, laser quest, the big rowing day, library tours and more. It is all designed to help freshers' get to know each other, find their way around and to feel comfortable in the place that they'll call home for the next three or more years.
In an interview with The Guardian in 2011, former Pembroke student and musician Kyla La Grange (2004) explained: 'I was really, really nervous going to Cambridge. I didn't know anyone else going and I thought everyone else would know each other because they'd all been to public school. Of course, it wasn't like that at all. When we arrived, the college had put on drinks in the library for freshers and their parents, which meant we all had two little bodyguards. And everyone was really friendly, so the nerves dissipated quite quickly.'
