The XX Factor
The XX Factor, as the name suggests, was an event celebrating female talent in College, which took place in the JP on Saturday 22nd November. In the softly lit room, with fairy lights hanging from the mirrors and desk lamps encircling the stage, four amazing acts displayed their skills. First up we had the pleasure of listening to Izzy Rodol (201$), a fresher who beautifully sang us a compilation of songs whilst playing guitar. Charlotte Chorley (2012) followed with an amazing original spoken word set, her last poem on catcalling ending her set with a bang. Shefali Kharabanda (2014) and Katharine Griffiths (2012) performed the next outstanding set, using both violins and guitars, and then Shefali finished the performance with unique renditions of Songbird and Gold, from the musical Once. Katharine and her folk band were on last; they performed a mixture of original and traditional folk songs and shanties, filling the room with their harmonies. The JP was packed to bursting all night and we managed to raise £140 for Cambridge Rape Crisis. It was truly a night to remember!
