These webpages contain many facts about Pembroke. We hope that they answer most of the questions you may have. Of course, no set of facts can tell you what it is like to study at Pembroke. Besides, the picture changes constantly. The nature and the friendly atmosphere of the College are created by those who are studying and teaching in it at any one time; everyone contributes. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, from across the UK, as well as Europe and the wider world. They all have two things in common: first, their deep interest in their subject, and secondly their success – recent examination results place Pembroke consistently in the top third of Cambridge colleges, and we consider such success to be very important. If you are keen to study your subject at the highest level in a warm, supportive environment, then Pembroke is the place for you!
Studying for an undergraduate degree at Pembroke is a rewarding experience, with the dual benefits of the University’s outstanding teaching and research facilities and the excellence and variety of the College environment. At any one time, there are around 440 undergraduate students studying for a degree at Pembroke.
An undergraduate student comes to study but also to experience a way of life that has evolved over centuries, among many eminent people in all areas of study and with students from different backgrounds.
Pembroke seeks to admit students of the highest intellectual potential irrespective of social, racial, religious and gender considerations. We actively encourage, through our Access initiatives, applications from groups that are, at present, under-represented within the College.
Coming to Cambridge might not be as expensive as you think: the University-wide Cambridge Bursaries Scheme, and Pembroke's own additional financial support, let you concentrate on life and study here.
