Pembroke Choir to tour East Coast of the United States

by Sally March

On Sunday 7 July, the choir will begin an eight day tour of the US, performing concerts and at services in New York, Kent (CT), Boston, Newport (RI) and Providence (RI).

The highlight of the week will be a concert at Trinity Church, Newport on Friday 12 July (5:00 pm).  The concert is part of Rhode Island’s celebrations to mark the 350th anniversary of the granting of a Royal Charter to the the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations on 8 July 1663.  Pembroke has strong links with Rhode Island; one of the state’s founders was Roger Williams (BA 1627) an alumnus of the College.

The tour will start in New York on 7 July with a Eucharist Service at 11:00 am at St Thomas Church (1 W 53rd St).  At 6:00 pm there will be a reception for Cambridge alumni at the New York Athletic Club.

The Choir will then perform at St Andrew’s Church, Kent, on Wednesday 10 July and Emmanuel Church, Boston, on Thursday 11 July.  The tour will conclude with a service at Grace Episcopal Church in Providence on Sunday 14 July.

These events are open to all. For more information, or to book tickets for the concerts and the alumni reception, please visit this page.
