by Alice Oates

Congratulations to Gesa Sophia Borgeest (2016), the winner of the Peter Clarke Prize for Scientific Communication 2018.

The Prize is awarded to a student who demonstrates excellent ability to write about complex concepts in a way that is understandable, accurate, and engaging. The prize is open to students studying science, medicine, veterinary medicine, maths, or engineering. Applicants are required to write a 2000 word article that should address, demystify, or enlarge the general readers’ understanding of a topical scientific subject, which may or may not be related to the student’s own area of study. Sophia’s winning entry was written on the subject of healthy ageing, and explored some of the factors behind remaining healthy into old age.
