Professor Maria Abreu

Subject: Land Economy

Professor Maria Abreu is Professor of Economic Geography in the Department of Land Economy. Her research covers regional economics, labour markets, migration, economic development, and innovation policy. She has worked as a consultant for the European Commission, the World Bank, the UK’s Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA), and the Department for Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) of Northern Ireland. Prior to coming to to Cambridge she worked for the World Bank in the areas of poverty, education and health, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
