Professor John Bell

Professor Bell, KC FBA FRSA, was admitted to the Society in 2001 when he was appointed Professor of Law.  He retired in 2020. Prior to joining Pembroke, he was Professor of Law at the University of Leeds and prior to that was Fellow and Tutor in Law at Wadham College, Oxford.  His interests include comparative law, public law and European law. He continues to publish on French and German laws. He was ordained as a permanent deacon within the Catholic Church in 2012 and is part of the chaplaincy team at Addenbrooke’s and at Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge.
