Professor Richard Ned Lebow

Richard Ned Lebow is Professor Emeritus of International Political Theory in the War Studies Department of King’s College London and the James O. Freedman Presidential Professor Emeritus of Government at Dartmouth College. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and recipient of numerous honorary degrees. He was made a German citizen in recognition of his scholarly contributions to German history and culture. He has published widely in international relations, comparative politics, political theory, psychology, classics, and philosophy of science. His most recent scholarly books are The Quest for Knowledge in International Relations: How Do We Know? (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2022); Justice and International Order: East and West, coauthored with Feng Zhang (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2022); Robustness and Fragility of Political Orders: Leader Assessments, Responses, and Consequences, coedited with Ludvig Norman, (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2022.) In 2022 he also published Obsessions, a murder mystery, and Rough Waters, a book of short stories. Lebow enjoys translating opera libretti from French, Italian, and German, building dry walls, playing tennis, and hiking in the Alps.
