Library book sale raises £250

Last week the Library held its annual book sale and raised £250 for charity. This will be split between two different causes, the first being Jimmy’s Cambridge and the second, The Time and The Place: Campaign for Pembroke. Jimmy’s Cambridge is a local charity which provides help for the homeless in Cambridge, including 24 hour access to emergency accommodation. The Time and The Place: Campaign for Pembroke, is a project which will expand the College into Mill Lane and ensure that we will be able to offer future students the very best facilities and opportunities for their education.

The book sale is an opportunity for the Library to pass on its old stock in order to make room on the shelves for new incoming books. This has been especially important this year as the College will be introducing two new subjects for undergraduates, Geography and Education, in the coming academic year.

We are delighted that fellows, staff, and students have been so generous this year and have shown their support of these causes by purchasing the withdrawn stock. It is fantastic that we have been able to support these charities and that the books have now gone onto caring owners.
