Applications for the Online Summer Research Programme 2024 are now closed.

We consider applications on a rolling basis and given the competitive nature of our courses, recommend early application.

Who can apply

The Online Summer Research Programme is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students across the world. You can also apply if you have completed your undergraduate or postgraduate studies. To apply you need to:

  • Be at least 18 years old by the start of the programme
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent at the time of application
  • Have finished the first year of your degree course by the start of the programme
  • Have a high level of fluency in English
  • Be ready to study 100% online – take a look at our Online Readiness information

We also highly recommend that you’re enrolled at a higher education institution while on the programme so you will have access to digital library resources at your home institution.

If you aren’t currently enrolled that doesn’t preclude you from applying and we’ll discuss access to resources with you as part of your application.

Before you apply, make sure you’ve read and understood all our Terms and Conditions.

We would also advise you to read through our Frequently Asked Questions if you have any doubts as you may find the answer there!

How to apply

  1. Online application form

Before completing the application form, you’ll first need to decide whether to follow the Open or Subject Stream. If you haven’t already, familiarise yourself with how teaching works on the programme.

You’re then ready to complete the online application form, which you’ll need to complete in one sitting.

Acknowledgement of the application form submission and receipt of supporting documents will only be sent Monday - Friday during UK office hours, so don't worry if you don't receive immediate confirmation.

  1. Academic transcript

We also need to review your current or most recent academic transcript.

You’ll need to arrange for your institution to send us either a certified PDF or a scanned copy of an official transcript to osrp@pem.cam.ac.uk.

We’re unable to accept transcripts sent directly from applicants; it must be sent by a university administrator or academic from an institutional email address.

They will need to identify themselves in their email with proof of their position, such as an official university webpage with their name and email address. This will help us to verify the authenticity of the transcript.

If you need to send a paper copy by mail or would like more guidance, see our FAQs.

  1. Project form

After submitting your application form, we’ll send you a project form to complete and return online.

Remember these will be sent during regular UK office hours, please allow up to two working days after you submit your application.

Next Steps

Once we receive your online application, academic transcript and project form our Selection Committee will be ready to review your complete application.

We aim to let you know a decision within 10 working days of receiving all completed parts of your application.
