The PKP Experience
Thinking about studying on the Pembroke-King's Summer Programme? You might be wondering what we mean by 'the PKP experience'.
Well, we think it encompasses the world-class academic opportunity, exciting social programme and the fantastic opportunity to experience Cambridge student life - all rolled into one unforgettable summer abroad!
Stretch yourself academically
Come and challenge yourself with the Cambridge style of teaching. That means small classes with plenty of interaction between the lecturer and students.
We cap student numbers in lectures at around 30 and seminars at 15, so you’ll get the chance to discuss ideas in a lively academic setting and develop your thinking.
Experience Cambridge student life
We don't think you can beat a summer living and studying in Cambridge, and this is your chance to experience it!
The city itself is stunning, unique and absolutely steeped in history. You’ll be part of the historic Pembroke (founded 1347) and King’s (founded 1441) Colleges, with access to their impressive libraries and dining halls.
We're sure one of your highlights on PKP will be the three formal halls held over the course of the programme. Beginning with a drinks reception followed by a three-course candlelit dinner, the dinners often epitomise the Cambridge student experience, so be sure to pack something nice to wear!
Beyond the classroom
While studying is an important aspect of PKP, our team of Programme Assistants (PAs) will organise an exciting and varied weekly schedule of activities for you to try. As Cambridge students themselves, they're well placed to help you navigate the city and take advantage of everything our wonderful city has to offer.
They'll introduce you to Cambridge classics such as croquet, cream teas, punting on the River Cam and a whole host of other activities. So, whether you're into sports, museums, sightseeing, performing, you name it - we'll have an activity planned to suit you.
If that doesn't keep you busy, Cambridge is bursting with excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs so it’s no surprise there’s a rich and varied social scene. The many museums and art galleries are worth a browse, and don’t miss settling down with a hamper to watch the outdoor Cambridge Shakespeare Festival.
What do students think?
Don’t just take our word for how unique the programme is!
Over six varied and memorable weeks, our students live, study and socialise with others from all corners of the globe, often forming lifelong friendships along the way.
