2018 Women in Science Residential

On 4th April 2018, 31 Year 11 students arrived in Pembroke for a three-day Women in Science residential.WiS

The Women in Science Easter residential has been running for three years.  It provides female students who are thinking about post-16 options with a chance to explore STEM topics at University. Participants attend academic sessions in a number of departments, and are accompanied by student ambassadors.

The group had academic sessions on Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, and Zoology. They learned some Information Theory, built small electronic cars, and thoroughly dissected some pigs’ organs in the Zoology department. They also had a taste of the fun side of Cambridge life, with a ghost tour, film night, and formal dinner.Sabrina

We would like to thank the students and academics who made the residential possible by offering their time to run sessions and support the group.  We enjoyed working with this year’s participants, and we wish them all the best for the future – hopefully we might see some of you back in Pembroke one day, too!
