Pembroke College Cambridge

Food

Our students always single out food as one of the best things about Pembroke: our weekend brunch is renowned across Cambridge!

The kitchens cater for a variety of dietary requirements, with vegetarian and vegan options always available. Our 'Simply Pembroke' range is also free from 13 of the 14 major allergens. All food is clearly labelled, so you can be confident in your choices. To see an example of the food on offer, have a look at our servery menu!

Students can choose to eat in College for all their meals or can cook for themselves. Using their College card, students can receive a discount on the meals they buy. A number of evenings each week we also serve a three-course set dinner called 'formal hall'.

Each student pays a Student Facilities Charge towards non-educational services and facilities in College (though there are some exemptions to paying the charge), which also means that they get a discounted rate on servery, cafe and bar prices, as well as Formal Hall:

  • Most students: £128 per term

  • Half rate (some students): £64 per term

Please note that the above costs are subject to annual change.

Formal Hall

Pembroke holds optional formal halls multiple times per week for our students to enjoy. These are three course, sit-down meals, and are a great opportunity for students to get together and celebrate an event or birthday - or just have a fun evening with friends. There are also formals throughout the year to celebrate events such as Halloween, Christmas, or International Womens' Day

The Bar and Café Pembroke

Our bar is next to the Common Room (a.k.a. the Junior Parlour) and is open till 11pm during full term. It’s right beside the largest of Pembroke’s beautiful garden areas, making it an ideal place to relax and socialise, especially during summer term. Café Pembroke sells sandwiches, cakes, snacks, and hot and cold drinks on weekdays.
