You will need to have completed at least two years of study at your home university before beginning your semester at Cambridge, and you should normally possess a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75. If you have a lower GPA but have been adversely affected by special circumstances then your application may be considered, and if this is the case you should send a supporting statement with the application explaining your situation.

Visa requirements vary according to country of citizenship and you should therefore consult the Visa information page.


Your application must include the following supporting documents: an academic transcript, or similar document indicating your academic performance at your university; two academic references written by faculty at your home university who are familiar with your work; and two essays written during your course of study that have been graded by your instructors. Ideally you should submit essays which have the lecturers’ comments and grade written on the essays but this may be difficult if an essay has been marked and then the comments given electronically. Therefore if an essay does not have a lecturer’s annotation and a grade shown on it a copy of the lecturer’s comments and grade must be submitted with the essay.

To apply for the Fall Semester Programme you should use the ONLINE APPLICATION SYSTEM. Applications are considered on a rolling basis and, given the intense competition for places, you should apply early. Applications for the 2018 Fall Semester are now closed. We aim to communicate our decision within three weeks of receiving a complete application. For your reference, the Fall Semester Programme falls within the 2018-19 academic year.

If you are offered a place on the programme you will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit, within one month of being accepted, to secure your place. If you expect to receive financial aid you should contact the Fall Semester Programme Coordinator to discuss your situation.

Moreover, are expecting your funding to be credited to your bank account after you have arrived in the UK, we would strongly advise that you speak to your bank before you travel to discuss the best way to pay your fees to Pembroke College. Some students have experienced difficulties in trying to transfer such a large sum of money due to set daily limits on their bank account. If you discuss this with your bank beforehand it will make the payment process much smoother and reduce failed payment attempts.

You are strongly advised to take out appropriate insurance before your arrival in the UK. The duration of the insurance policy should provide adequate cover for the outward and return journeys and the duration of the stay, and cover for any expenses incurred as a result of illness or medical care required, lost or stolen property, late arrival or early departure or cancellation due to unforeseen and/or unavoidable circumstances.
