Pembroke College Cambridge

Terms and Conditions

Covid-19

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, programme events and activities will be kept under review and may be revised or replaced based on the latest guidance from the UK Government and Public Health England.

In the unlikely event that it becomes necessary to cancel a programme altogether, students will be advised as early as possible and provided with a full refund of the deposit and any other fees paid.

Applications

To apply for a Semester Programme you will need to be at least 18 years old, and to have completed your second year at your home university, by the time the programme starts.

You are advised to check with your home university for advice about gaining course credit for participation in a Semester Programme.

If you receive an offer of a place on the programme, you will be required to pay 15% of the total fee as a non-refundable deposit within one month of the offer to secure your place on the programme. Please see our Programme Fees page for the details.

Applications received after the programme is full may be placed on a waiting list. If this is the case, the International Programmes Department will contact you.

Courses and Teaching

Once an offer has been made on a Semester Programme you will be asked to select five papers in order of preference, and will be assigned to two.

Pembroke will endeavour to assign you to your preferred papers, but you should be aware that not all papers are offered each academic year, some papers may not be viable over two terms of study, or suitable supervisors may not be available. Should any issues arise regarding the selection of papers, we will discuss them with you on a case-by-case basis.

The International Programmes Department reserves the right to alter or cancel any paper should illness or unavoidable changes in circumstance prevent a supervisor from teaching. The Department will make all efforts, should such an event arise, to provide a suitable substitute supervisor.

Accommodation

Student room stock available to participants on a Semester Programme varies year by year, and also the location, sizes and facilities provided within the rooms. Rooms are randomly allocated before the start of the programme.

Cancellation Policy

If, for whatever reason, you are obliged to cancel your place on the programme, you must notify us of your request to cancel by emailing semester@pem.cam.ac.uk.

In most cases the initial deposit and all programme fees are non-refundable. You will not be entitled to extra tuition, reduction or refund of the fees if you are unable to attend the programme for any reason.

If you cancel within 14 days of paying your deposit, you may be entitled to a full refund. However, where work to facilitate your participation in the programme has begun during the cancellation period you may only receive a partial or no refund. By accepting a place on the programme, you consent to such work beginning immediately, unless you communicate otherwise to us at the time.
