Pembroke College Cambridge

Postgraduate Accommodation

At Pembroke the aim is to accommodate for their first year all single postgraduate students new to Cambridge in College rooms or in houses close by. There is also a limited number of flats for couples. In subsequent years postgraduates enter a ballot and most who wish are accommodated.

All rooms are furnished and are centrally heated. Rooms are single study-bedrooms with bed, desk, washbasin and a limited number offering en-suite facilities. There are no shared rooms. All rooms in College have access to a small kitchen (gyp room) where light snacks can be prepared. Full self-catering facilities are available in College houses/hostels. Rooms vary in size and outlook and are priced accordingly. Duvets and pillows are provided but students need to bring their own bedlinen. It is possible for students to hire bedlinen from the Linen Room.

Variations in amenities are reflected in rents which from October 2022 range from £113.93 to £175.18 per week (including the cost of cleaning and central heating). Only a few rooms are available at the extremes of this range; the majority of the rooms are £150.68/week or above.

All postgraduate students retain their rooms for the academic year.

Postgraduate students who require couples accommodation should apply to the College Registrar. Please note that Pembroke does not have a large stock of housing suitable for couples.

Should anyone prefer to take up non-Pembroke accommodation, the University Accommodation Service should prove helpful in finding other rooms or flats.
