Prof. Sir Stephen O'Rahilly Receives Prestigious Awards

Pembroke Fellow Professor Sir Stephen O’Rahilly has received three prestigious awards:

The Banting Medal of the American Diabetes Association 2019, the highest scientific award of the American diabetes association, honouring lifetime career achievement.

 

The Galen Medal of the Society of Apothecaries 2019, awarded for valuable services or contributions rendered to the science of therapeutics. 

 

Honorary Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales 2019, a public recognition of academic excellence. 

 

Professor Sir O'Rahilly currently serves as Professor of Clinical Biochemistry & Medicine, Co-director at the Institute of Metabolic Science, Director of the Metabolic Research Laboratories, and Director of the MRC Metabolic Diseases Unit at the University of Cambridge, and is known for his seminal studies on the genetics of obesity and insulin resistance and his expertise in biomedical research.
