Dr Steven Ward

Dr Ward joined Pembroke College during October 2021 an Official Fellow. He studies and teaches international politics, with specialisations in the areas of international security, international relations theory, and American foreign policy. Prior to joining Cambridge’s Department of Politics and International Studies, Dr Ward was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Cornell University.

Dr Ward is currently engaged in two research projects. The first investigates the domestic political consequences of the experience of national decline. The second explores the ways in which forward military deployments function as signals of resolve and commitment in foreign policy.
