Mr Richard Berengarten

Mr Berengarten has taught study skills at Pembroke since 2007. An alumnus of the college, he is available for support on writing, reading, revision, exam and time-management skills, and planning essays, dissertations and reports. He works with both undergraduates and graduate students, with native and non-native speakers, and is an authority on English as a foreign and second language (EFL, ESL). He has taught English language, literature and creative writing in the UK and USA, and in Greece, India, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Russia and the countries of Former Yugoslavia.

Mr Berengarten is a poet, literary critic and translator, and author of over 20 books. His writings are translated into over 100 languages and he is recipient of more than ten literary awards, in the UK, China, Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia. He is a Bye-Fellow at Downing College, Fellow of the English Association, Freeman of the City of Kragujevac (Serbia), Principal Counsellor for the International Poetry Festival, Medellín (Colombia), Advisor to the Pari Center, Tuscany  (Italy), and former Visiting Professor at the University of Notre Dame (USA).
