Speed Networking Event in College 

Huge thanks to all our alumni who came back to share their experience with current students at our Speed Networking Event earlier this month. The event started with tea, coffee and biscuits and a welcome from the Master followed by an interactive workshop Networking: How do I do it successfully? with Pembroke Alumnus, Guy Doza (2020). Guy, who works as a speechwriter, author and public affairs consultant said: 'It is wonderful to see how much work is being done to support current Pembroke students as they begin planning for their future careers – especially given the challenges and uncertainty facing the next generation of young professionals. It is always lovely to return to Pembroke and to be reminded that you are still part of an active and thriving community. Thank you to the Development Office for coordinating these events and continuing to uphold Pembroke's reputation as a distinctive, successful and supportive academic community.'

Another of our participating alumni, Lucy Emerson (1997) Chief Executive of the Sex Education Forum said: 'I would have loved to have been to an event like this when I was an undergrad and so it was a privilege to share some of my experiences with students and to learn about their interests and hopes for the future.' 

Senior Medical Writer, Laura Upstone (2015), said, 'It was such a pleasure to be involved and I hope that it helped some of the students consider different options for their futures. I know that when I was in my last year at Pembroke, it was very daunting thinking about what was next - I suddenly didn't have a clear path forward and had to make decisions. Although everything worked out well for me, this event would have been a great help, not only in deciding on a career path, but also to reassure me that I didn't have to have everything figured out immediately!'
