Statement on the University of Cambridge Legacies of Slavery Report

Pembroke welcomes the report by the University’s Advisory Group on Legacies of Enslavement. We believe it is fundamentally important for all facets of the history of our ancient institutions – University and colleges – to be researched and made public. This is why we were keen to open up our archives to the University’s researchers, and the results of this access are evident in the report. We are hoping, in due course to, undertake our own research project to examine our archives in greater detail. We believe it is crucial for an academic institution to be knowledgeable, open and transparent about all aspects of its history. We will continue to study and research the whole of our history; and any links with slavery are one important aspect of that history.
