Pembroke College Cambridge

Accommodation Bands

Pembroke accommodation is divided into six bands. Band 1 is the cheapest and Band 6 is the most expensive. Programme fees can be found here.

Bands take into account the size of the room, amenities such as extra furniture, views from the window, recent renovations and location. On-site College rooms are usually more expensive because of the central historic location, but there are higher-banded particularly large rooms off-site as well. You can see the accommodation locations here.

Please be aware that many of our buildings are hundreds of years old and as such no two rooms are the same and there will be some variation between rooms of the same band. All our rooms are single-occupancy so you won't be sharing your room with another student.

Band 1

Band 1 rooms are the most affordable rooms, located in off-site houses around Cambridge.

They are the smallest rooms, but with all the essential facilities of a bed, desk, chair, storage space as well as access to shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, as with all the rooms.

Band 2

Band 2 rooms are slightly larger than those in Band 1 and are mostly located in off-site houses, although there are a limited number of smaller on-site rooms in Pembroke College available in this band.

Band 3

Band 3 rooms are medium-sized rooms located in off-site houses, or smaller rooms located on-site in Pembroke College. Band 3 rooms may contain more furniture or have better views from the window than lower bands.

Band 4

Band 4 rooms are small to medium-sized rooms located on-site in Pembroke College, or larger rooms in off-site houses. They may have additional furniture or nicer views from the window.

Band 5

Band 5 rooms are medium to large-sized rooms located on-site in Pembroke College, or particularly large rooms in off-site houses, which may have additional furniture or particularly nice views from the window.

Band 6

Band 6 rooms are a mix of particularly large rooms on-site within the College and ‘sets’ which are usually made up of two inter-connecting rooms, where one is used as a bedroom and the other is a study and sitting area. These rooms often have the best views.

There are also a limited number of band 6 rooms on Fitzwilliam Street which are very large rooms and may have additional furniture.
